Why Soak Grains?
The overnight soak of the whole grains is an art from the past that we have lost over time. It really should be reintroduced for a healthy diet. It helps aid in the digestion and absorption of nutrients all the while lowering the antinutrients found in the oats. However, I would not try doing an overnight soak with an instant oat, for fear they would turn out too soggy! Add a lean protein to it and you’ll find you and your children focused for hours! The overnight oat recipes are a great way to get the kids cooking, too! Having no ovens or stoves involved will give you peace of mind and a chance for your child to be creative and feel accomplished when he has made everyone a delicious breakfast meal. This recipe was created by my son Lucius, and I believe he has perfected it!
How to Add to You’re Overnight Oats
We love to use simple ingredients to top the oats like fresh fruits, sliced bananas, nut butters, even frozen fruit placed in it at night will defrost in time for breakfast! This can be made with regular dairy milk or any type of non-dairy milk of your choice.

1 quart Mason Jar
Measuring cups
Measuring spoons
Ingredients:
2 cups Whole Rolled Oats

2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 cup of mixed berries
Instructions:
These oats need to be made the night before if you want them for breakfast. Measure the Quaker Oats in a measuring cup and place them in a quart mason jar. Measure the milk in a measuring cup and combine it with the oats. Add the maple syrup, the salt, and the cinnamon to the oat mixture. Stir the oat mixture well to ensure that all the ingredients are well incorporated. Place a plastic lid on top of the mason jar and screw it on well to ensure that it is secure. Place in fridge and leave overnight. Allow to sit for at least 8 hours. When you are ready to serve, shake the jar well to make sure all the ingredients are mixed. Place in bowls. Add the mixed berries and serve! This is best eaten immediately.
